I’ve been doing a lot of one-handed clapping recently, mostly of the rather pathetic patting of the thigh kind. However, it shouldn’t be read as that sarcastic clap in lieu of full applause when  you can’t find it in yourself to justify raising the other limb. 
It is because of a recent operation to my left wrist that I am forced to clap one-handed and to type like a woodpecker. I’m not seeking any sympathy — I have enough of that — but it does assist in explaining why this letter is brief. In a wonderful Zen, koan teachings kind of way though, it has forced my hand, so to speak, to think more carefully about everything, and the way I do it. All the more considered about self and surroundings, typing unnecessary emails, and of course, more aware of how so many folk go through life so totally unconscious.
